How do I upload a video?

You can upload video files to Planet eStream WU.

Upload Video

To upload video files to Planet eStream WU, follow these steps:

In the top menu bar in Planet eStream WU, click on this icon(Create Media Options).
Click on Upload Media.
Now select the video from your files.
Fill in the information at Upload Media.
NOTE: At Show More Fields enter information that can support you in the administration of the medium. The more information you enter here, the faster you will retrieve a medium/media set, if you already have several media in Planet eStream WU.
Click on Confirm.
Then click on Start Upload.

The upload will not take long. The following default settings apply to the upload of a video file: 6000 Kbps (Full HD). These settings are pre-configured and cannot be changed. Do not close the window in the meantime. Once the upload is complete, the platform's internal conversion process will begin to convert the media to mp4 format. You can close all windows in the meantime.

Track Conversion Status

To check the conversion status, proceed as follows:

Click on your name in the top right corner.
Click on Conversions.

Here you can see where the media is in the upload process and how much data has already been uploaded. As soon as the file is uploaded and converted, you will find it in My Media and receive an email notification.

How do I add a YouTube video?

YouTube Videos can be added to Planet eStream WU, added to playlists and enhanced with quiz.

Add YouTube Video

Proceed as follows to add a YouTube video to Planet eStream WU:

In the top menu bar in Planet eStream WU, click on Create Media Options .
Click on Youtube - at the bottom right.
Enter the URL of a YouTube video from the address bar of your browser into the window (don't use the link under Share!). If you want to add several Youtube videos, enter the URL of the YouTube videos one below the other in the window (one URL per line).
Click on Confirm.
Fill in the information in Add External Content.
Click on Close.

You can find the YouTube video instantly in My media.

How do I upload a 360-degree video?

You can display videos in a 360-degree mode.

Request Upload

The settings for conversions are preconfigured. For the upload of VR media and 360-degree videos, a data rate of 1000 Kbps is recommended. On request, special video formats, such as 360-degree videos, can be uploaded for you to Planet eStream WU by the staff of Digital Teaching Services (contact: digitalteaching@wu.ac.at). As soon as the file is uploaded, converted and transferred to you, you will find it in My Media.

Activate 360 Degree Mode

Log in at Planet eStream WU and select Details of a 360 degree video.
At a media set, click at Enable 360 Degree Mode.

Now, the 360 degree mode is activated. Viewers can navigate within the video from now on. As long as the 360 degree mode is activated, viewers can additionally swith to the VR view. For doing so, click on Switch to VR View. This viewing mode is compatible for Google cardboard and similar devices. If you embed a video now, the video will be embedded in 360 degree mode.

Click on Disable 360 Degree Mode to deactivate the navigation options within the video.

How do I upload audio?

You can upload audio files to Planet eStream WU.

Upload Audio

Proceed as follows to upload audio files to Planet eStream WU:

In the top menu bar in Planet eStream WU, click on this icon(Create Media Options).
Click on Upload Media.
Now select the audio from your files.
Fill in the information at Upload Media.
NOTE: At Show More Fields enter information that can support you in the administration of the medium. The more information you enter here, the faster you will retrieve a medium/media set, if you already have several media in Planet eStream WU.
Check Retain Source Media (recommended)
Click on Confirm.
Then click on Start Upload.

The upload will not take long. The following default settings apply to the upload of an audio file: 128 Kbps. These settings are pre-configured and cannot be changed. Do not close the window in the meantime. Once the upload is complete, the platform's internal conversion process will begin to convert the media to mp4 format. You can close all windows in the meantime.

Track Conversion Status

To check the conversion status, proceed as follows:

Click on your name in the top right corner.
Click on Conversions.

Here you can see where the media is in the upload process and how much data has already been uploaded. As soon as the file is uploaded and converted, you will find it in My Media and also receive an email notification.

How do I receive a recording from the FLEX Media Studios?

You can produce video and audio files in the FLEX Media Studios (https://www.wu.ac.at/en/flex).

Receive Recording

Your videos will be automatically uploaded to the Planet eStream media platform after recording in the FLEX Video Studio. Please note that the videos are assigned to the person who made the FLEX Video Studio booking via Rooms (see information about the media owner here: https://www.wu.ac.at/en/flex/ueber-das-flex-center/buchung). Only this person can further edit the video file and share it with other people.

NOTE: If the media does not appear in Planet eStream within a day, please submit a ticket to IT Services (Helpdesk-Ticket).

How do I upload a video from LEARN?

You can transfer videos from LEARN to Planet eStream.

1 Download Video

To download video files from LEARN, follow these steps:

Navigate to the course/LMS with the lecturecasts in LEARN.
Click on the Lecturecasts folder on the left.
Click on Actions next to a video.
Select Download

Dual Stream Video: Download Camera and Download Screen
Single stream (normal) video: Download

Save video files locally

2 Upload Video

In the top menu bar in Planet eStream WU, click on this icon(Create Media Options).
Click on Upload Media.
Now select the video from your files.
Proceed as described under How do I upload a Video?.

NOTE: For dual stream lecture recordings: Contact Digital Teaching Services with the video titles and links to the videos in LEARN (contact: digitalteaching@wu.ac.at). As soon as the file is uploaded, converted and transferred to you, you will find it in My Media.

How do I upload an image?

You can upload images to Planet eStream, to be later used in videos or for Canvas WU embeds.

Upload Image

Follow these steps to upload images to Planet eStream WU:

Click on the Select Module icon and on Photo Library.
Click on the icon , to add a new picture to Planet eStream WU.
Select a picture from your computer and select Add to Photo Library Only.
Enter further information about this image and confirm all entries with Start upload. The image will now be added. Click on the magnifier icon to see which images you have already added to the image library.
To return to video management, click the pink photo icon in the top menu bar , then select Media Library.

Create a Lightbox

Follow these steps to create a lightbox in Planet eStream WU:

Click on Tools and select Photo Library.
Click the Upload icon and select the image(s) you want to add to Planet eStream.
Select Create New Collection and click Select Lightbox. Enter a name for the new lightbox.
Then enter a title under New Collection Name.
Fill in any other info fields as needed, and then go to Start Upload.
Click the magnifying glass at the top to view all content. You will now find the newly created image collection under Collections. Click on it and then go to Open Gallery View in the upper right corner .
Select a gallery view (Swipe Gallery, Scattered Gallery or Slideshow), configure the gallery options and if necessary, a background image.

You can use the embed-code to add a lightbox to your Canvas WU course.

How do I upload a MS-Teams meeting recording?

You can quickly import recordings of MS Teams meetings to back them up and share them with anyone.

Upload MS-Teams Recording

To upload a recording of a MS Teams meeting in Planet eStream, proceed as follows:

Click on the icon (Create Media Options).
Click on Microsoft Teams Meetings.
Select Users OneDrive Teams Recordings. Now, all recordings of all meetings of which you were entered as host are displayed.
Select a recording of a meeting and click on Import.
Optionally, fill the information at Import Teams Recordings.
Click on Confirm and Close.

The recording of the MS-Teams meeting will be added and you will find it in My Media.

How do I upload a Zoom meeting recording?

You can quickly import recordings of Zoom meetings to back them up and share them with anyone.

Upload Zoom meeting recording

To upload a recording of Zoom meeting in Planet eStream, proceed as follows:

Click on the icon (Create Media Options).
Click on Zoom Meetings.
Click on Authenticate and log in with the SSO Account. Now, all recordings of all meetings of which you were entered as host are displayed.
Select a recording of a meeting, decide on webcam picture or audio only and click on Import.
Optionally, fill the information at Import Zoom Recordings.
Click on Confirm and Close.

The recording of the Zoom meeting will be added and you will find it in My Media.

How do I create a web recording?

You can produce videos directly in Planet eStream WU.

1 Start Recording

Click on the icon (Create Media Options).
Select Web Recorder.
Grant the use of your microphone (Allow) and of your webcam (Allow) for Planet eStream WU.
Choose between Recorder Setting or Picture in Picture Setting.
Define the settings.
Click on Confirm.
Click on Start to start the recording.

2 Save Recording

To finish the recording, click on STOP RECORDING.
Enter a title and fill in additional information.
Click on Create.
To leave the web recorder you can click on Exit Recorder.

This video is at your disposal right away.

Type of Web Recordings

	Simple webcam recording At Recorder Settings select your webcam as the Video Source.
	Simple Screen recording At Recorder Settings select as the Video Source: Screen.
	Simple Audio Recording At Recorder Settings select your microphone as the Audio Source and [None] as the Video Source.
	Webcam picture with picture-in-picture recording of the screen At Recorder Settings select your webcam as Video Source. At Picture in Picture Settings select Screen as Second Video Source. At Window Size, specify, in which size the screen should be embedded.
	Screenrecording with Picture-in-Picture recording of the webcam image At Recorder Settings select Screen as Video Source. At Picture in Picture Settings select your webcam as Second Video Source. At Window Size specify in which size your webcam image shall be displayed.
	Webrecording with dual-stream At Recorder Settings select Screen as Video Source. At Picture in Picture Settings select your webcam as Second Video Source. At Window Size specify in which size your webcam image shall be displayed. Enable the feature Record as Dual Stream

The following default settings apply to web recording: 4000 Kbps/Audio 123 Kbps. These settings are pre-configured and cannot be changed

How do I create a playlist?

A playlist can include entire videos, entire YouTube embeds or individual chapters.

1 Create Playlist

Follow these steps to create a playlist:

Click on Create Media Options in the top menu bar.
Select Playlist and enter information.
Click on Confirm to create the playlist.

2 Add Videos

Follow these steps to add videos to a playlist:

Open the playlist and click on Add Item.
Click Select Chapter to select one or more individual chapters of the adjacent media object.
Or click on Select Item to select the entire media object.

The items have now been added to the playlist. You now have the option to fully integrate all or selected components of the playlist into this playlist. Click Lock to playlist to prevent the media item from appearing as a separate object outside the playlist in Planet eStream. This can help prevent you from accidentally deleting components of this playlist and potentially cluttering up your media storage.

NOTE: You can also select multiple videos to upload and instantly create a playlist from them.
